Tell us a little bit about your family and where you’re from.

I was raised right here in Mount Vernon where I met my amazing husband, Andrew. We now have three kiddos: Emma, Will, and Kate. Andrew and I consider it a privilege to be in positions where we can serve our community, especially families and children.

When did you meet Jesus?

I had the privilege of growing up in a home where following Jesus was taught and modeled. I made my own declaration to serve and follow Jesus when I was twelve at a church event. He changed my life even at the young age of twelve! I publicly declared my trust in Him shortly afterward through baptism. Along this journey, I have for sure stumbled and fallen, but I want to live a life that is in constant pursuit of being more and more like Jesus.

What is one of your favorite Bible verses?

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your paths.

How do you hope your ministry will impact people?

Jesus was the best at bringing people in when the rest of the world ignored them, and children were one of these groups that were ignored or forgotten. Being in a role where I can encourage and support families and children is one huge way where I truly believe generations can be impacted. If we can serve and support our parents well, they will in turn have better marriages, and then feel more confident and empowered pointing their kiddos to Jesus. Sunday mornings are just a fraction of the impact we can have on children and families, but we also love the opportunity to teach God’s Word in grace and truth and in fun and engaging ways! What a privilege and what a treat!

What experience/education/training has helped prepare you for your current role?

I have always loved working with children, as I graduated from Mount Vernon Nazarene University with a degree in Early Childhood Education. I had the privilege to teach second grade for five years in a local school district, and it has been a wonderful transition for me to be able to teach children in a different capacity and have the chance to share the Gospel message with them every week. I also love leading and serving alongside all of the fantastic Lifepoint Kids leaders who desire to help raise up the next generation of leaders and disciples. I have now had the opportunity to work in this role since Lifepoint Mount Vernon was planted in 2012, and I have loved seeing God move and grow in my own family and the families in our church.

What are some of your favorite shows, books, movies, music…?

Shows: The Chosen, The Office, Blue Bloods, and Downton Abbey

Books: The Bible, The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry by John Mark Comer, Anything by Jennie Allen, and any good historical fiction book

Movies: A League of Their Own, Father of the Bride, and Encanto (because we don’t talk about Bruno!)

Music: Rend Collective, For King and Country, All worship music, and any Oldies song!

What do you do for fun?

Anything with my family is where I want to be! We love to hike, sit around a fire, play any and all sports, and bake yummy treats together. I also love to cook, read, find new hiking trails, drink freshly brewed iced tea, travel, and take our dogs for a good walk.
