Local missions
We exist to love God, love people, and make disciples of Jesus Christ.
So many people in our communities are trapped in cycles of pain, poverty, and addiction. We believe that Jesus Christ has the power to transform people's lives. Our first responsibility is to do whatever it takes to reach people with God's Word.
But we also believe that education is one of the best ways to help people break out of those cycles, which is why we have intentionally begun two partnerships with our local school system.
- Through Backpacks of Hope, we provide healthy, weekend meals to local elementary students. In these tough times, many of our local students don't have access to food on the weekends. We don't think Jesus likes that, so we're trying to do something about it.
- Through Arise2Read, we provide free literacy tutoring to local 2nd-grade students. Studies show that if a child in poverty can read at grade-level by the end of 3rd grade, they have an 89% chance of graduating high school. If they can't, they have a 75% chance of being a poor reader in high school and a 66% chance of ending up on welfare or in jail.
We also have financial and volunteer partnerships with Starting Point, Touchpoint, Hope in Knox, Winter Sanctuary, and Hot Meals.
