Molly Pursel

Operations Director

Tell us a little bit about your family and where you’re from.

I have lived in Ohio my entire life. I was born in Dayton, and then the majority of my life has been in Central Ohio. I graduated from Granville High School in 2002, and then Otterbein College in 2007. I met Adam when I was in college and we were married in July of 2007. We have lived in Westerville, Delaware, and now Mount Vernon for the last 14 years. The Lord has blessed us with four amazing children, two boys and two girls…two are teenagers, one is pre-teen, and our youngest is elementary-aged. They keep us busy for sure, but are so much fun!

When did you meet Jesus?

I grew up going to church nearly every Sunday (thank you mom and dad), and I remember loving church and learning about Jesus. When I was 12, that was the first time I truly understood the Gospel and my need for a Savior, and I prayed to accept Jesus during a youth summer camp.

However, I did not pursue Jesus fully during high school and my first year of college (I was choosing to live my own way and was walking in rebellion). By God’s grace and steadfast love, he never let go of me!

I came to a turning point at the end of my freshman year of college, and I re-dedicated my life to him. It was at that time that I started to learn how to seek Jesus daily through reading the Bible and prayer, attending church, seeking fellowship with other believers, and serving Him in all that I did (not perfectly, of course, but growing slow and steady with plenty of ups and downs over the years).

What is one of your favorite Bible verses?

“But when one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.”— 2 Corinthians 3:16-18

What is your current role with Lifepoint? How long have you been on staff?

Adam and I moved to MV to plant this church in 2012. We launched on February 17, 2013, and I have served in a volunteer role since then (mostly in kids ministry as well as a women’s Lifegroup leader). I am excited to step into a new role, on staff, as Operations Director starting August 2026.

How do you hope your ministry will impact people?

I am the Lord’s vessel, so I pray He uses me for His glory. I hope that people can grow closer to Jesus and love Him more fully and faithfully, and I count it an honor and joy if I get to play a part in that!

What experience/education/training has helped prepare you for your current role?

I have my bachelors of Science in Nursing, and was privileged to serve as a nurse from 2007-2012 at Riverside Hospital in Columbus. I initially worked part-time after our first two children were born, and then had the joy and honor to be a full-time, stay at home mom for nearly 10 years after our 3rd and 4th child came along (I would do it all over again in a heartbeat).

I have worked outside the home again, for the past three years, as a part-time nurse for an amazing family doctor. I know the Lord has given me a heart of service and has certainly used my role as mom and nurse to prepare me for this next season of service to our church.

Over the years, I’ve had a growing interest in studying the Bible and theology more in depth. I have done BSF (Bible Study Fellowship) in the past, which helped me grow in knowing how to study the Bible and love God and his Word more. Last year, I completed a “Go Certificate” in Biblical Studies and Theology from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. I love learning about God and his Word and hope to continue that in various ways as long as I’m able!

What are some of your favorite shows, books, movies, music, etc?

I don’t watch much TV, but I do enjoy a good laugh, so Seinfeld is a go-to (background noise mostly, but I could probably quote too much of it). I also enjoy history documentaries and home improvement shows.

Most of my favorite movies were made in the 80’s and 90’s, and include: Sixteen Candles, Back to the Future, What About Bob, Groundhog Day, Top Gun, Princess Bride, Sleepless in Seattle, You’ve Got Mail, and Forrest Gump.

I really enjoy reading historical fiction novels, especially set during WWI or WWII time frame. I like Wendell Berry’s books, including Jayber Crow, Hannah Coulter, and The Memory of Old Jack. I love reading to my kids, especially when they were younger, we enjoyed a few classics like Trumpet of the Swan and Where the Red Fern Grows (both of which made me cry). You can also find me reading Christian growth books, some of my favorites are: Jesus Continued…Why the Spirit Inside You is Better than Jesus Beside You by J.D. Greear, A Quest for More by Paul David Tripp, When People are Big and God is Small by Edward T. Welch…just to name a few.

I love a lot of music, but mostly from the 80’s and 90’s, with the Police being one of my top favorite bands. I like most classic rock. I typically listen to worship music like Phil Wickham and Shane and Shane. If you put on a good hymn, I’ll probably start crying; some of my favorite hymns are: How Great Thou Art, Come thou Fount of Every Blessing, A Mighty Fortress, Amazing Grace, Holy Holy Holy, Rock of Ages, and the Doxology.

What do you do for fun?

I really enjoy going for walks outside in the woods with Adam and our dog. I enjoy reading and relaxing at home. I enjoy time together with family and friends, eating good food, laughing and playing cards or board games. And of course, I love watching all of our children do the things they love doing, currently a lot of sporting and/or music events!
