Who’s your one? Pray. Go. Repeat.

August 24, 2025

Excerpt: Jesus calls every disciple to share the good news. Why? Because everyone needs Jesus. Here’s why we go, what often holds us back, and simple ways to start—today.

Big Idea

Everybody needs Jesus. Do you agree?

Scripture

Matthew 28:18–20 — Jesus said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations… baptizing them… teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always…”

Why Should We Share?

1) Command

We share because Jesus told us to. The Great Commission isn’t for “super Christians.” If you belong to Jesus, it’s for you.

2) Compassion

Love compels us. Jesus is “the way… No one comes to the Father except through” Him (John 14:6). Eternity is real; silence isn’t loving.

3) Co-mission

We go with Jesus. Joining His mission drives out boredom and deepens joy as you watch Him work in you and through you.

Why Don’t We?

Beliefs

We assume “nice people” don’t need Jesus—or that my mission matters more than His. Both are false and keep us quiet.

Bashful

We’re afraid of saying the wrong thing or hurting a relationship. Fear is normal; it’s just not a reason to disobey.

Busy

Good things crowd out the main thing. We forget we’re surrounded by people who need Jesus.

How Do We Start?

Pray & Prioritize

  • Pray daily for boldness and opportunities.
  • Prioritize the mission now—don’t wait for “perfect” timing.

Who’s Your One?

  • Pick one person (or a few) who, as far as you know, doesn’t follow Jesus.
  • Pray for them by name; look for ways to listen, serve, and share.
  • Notice: the more you pray, the less your bashfulness rules you.

Share & Send

We share locally and help send globally—church plants, missionaries, and teams—so that all peoples hear.

Practice This Week

  • Read Matthew 28:18–20 and thank Jesus for being “with you always.”
  • Write down your one. Pray for them daily.
  • Take one step: invite a conversation, extend a serve, or share your story with Jesus.

Next Steps

  • Follow Jesus — Repent and believe the gospel.
