Jesus Made a Way

Jesus Made a Way

Hebrews 7 · Our Great High Priest

It’s possible to get close to God. That’s what Hebrews 7 teaches us. Through Jesus—our Great High Priest—the way has been opened for people like us to draw near again to the God who is the source of love, joy, and life.

How Can We Get Close to God?

Since Genesis 3, humanity has lived at a distance from the One we were made for. The story of Scripture is God making a way back. In the Old Testament, that “way” ran through priests and sacrifices. Every morning and every evening a spotless lamb was killed, blood was spilled, and the altar burned. Day after day, year after year—because sin never stopped and the priests always died.

But Hebrews 7 points to something better. A different order. A priest not like Aaron, but like Melchizedek—a priest forever. One who didn’t inherit His role by birth but by the power of an indestructible life.

Jesus Is Better · Jesus Is Forever

Jesus doesn’t clock in and out of temple duty. He’s not one among many. He’s the only priest who never dies and the only priest who never sins. The law appointed weak men as priests; God appointed His perfect Son.

He doesn’t need to offer sacrifice for His own sin—He had none. And He doesn’t need to offer the same sacrifice again and again—He offered Himself once for all.

That’s why Hebrews says, “He is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.” Jesus made a way for you to get close to God, not just sometimes, but forever.

What Does That Mean for Us?

  • Pursue Holiness. Follow Jesus. Turn from sin. Let His grace shape your life. We’re not saved by obedience—but we are saved for it.
  • Share Hope. Someone you know doesn’t realize it’s possible to be close to God. Tell them. Show them. Jesus made a way for them, too.

The author of Hebrews calls this a better hope—the hope that lets us draw near. Jesus is the anchor of our souls and our intercessor forever. Every time we stumble, He stands in our place, alive before the Father, praying for us still.

Draw Near

Because of Jesus, you don’t have to stay distant. You can live in fellowship with your Creator—the same love, joy, and life that were lost in Genesis 3 are found again in Christ. He made the way back home.

“Consequently, He is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through Him.” — Hebrews 7:25
