Our Story

It Has Always Been About God’s Kindness

At Lifepoint Church, when we look back over our journey, we arrive at one simple conclusion: Our story is entirely a story of God’s extraordinary kindness, unshakeable faithfulness, and lavish grace.

Every milestone, every season of growth, and every life changed in Mount Vernon is a testament to what God can do through an ordinary group of people who simply trust Him. At our core, our heart has always been simple: to help people love God, love people, and make disciples of Jesus Christ.

Sent by Faithfulness

Like many church plants, our story didn’t start in a vacuum—it began with the generosity and kingdom-minded vision of another local church. We owe a deep debt of gratitude to Lifepoint Church in Lewis Center, Ohio, led by Pastor Dean Fulks. They loved us, supported us financially, and faithfully sent us out to plant a new gospel-centered work in Mount Vernon. We are here today because another church was willing to give away its resources and people for the sake of the Gospel.

Small Beginnings to a Permanent Home

God’s faithfulness has been clear in every chapter of our journey:

  • Fall 2012 — The Living Room Era: Our story officially started as small as it gets. A small core team—beginning with just 7 adults and 3 toddlers—began gathering monthly in a living room, praying, dreaming, and inviting others to join the mission of planting a new church.
  • February 17, 2013 — Launching in a Movie Theater: On a cold Sunday morning in February 2013, we held our very first official public worship service at the local movie theater in Mount Vernon.
  • Easter 2014 (April 20) — Moving Downtown: As our church family grew, God provided a rental space in an older church building in downtown Mount Vernon, giving us a fixed home to establish deeper roots in the community.
  • January 2023 — Moving into Our Permanent Home: After ten years of mobile ministry and renting, by God’s grace, we opened the doors to our permanent facility—providing a lasting hub for gospel ministry, community outreach, and future generations.

Lives Transformed & Kingdom Growth

While buildings and dates mark our history, the true story of Lifepoint is measured in changed lives. Over the last 13+ years, God has allowed us the joy and privilege of seeing hundreds of people make public professions of faith through baptism—marking restored marriages, second chances, and individuals surrendering their lives to Jesus as they learn to love Him and love others.

Multiply: A Legacy of Sending

From the very beginning, we believed that healthy churches don’t just grow; they multiply. Because we were planted by a generous church, we have fought to maintain that same open-handed culture of making and sending disciples.

Over our history, God has allowed us the privilege of sending out seven church planting teams to start new gospel works locally and globally:

The Story Continues

Buildings, locations, and milestones are wonderful, but the heart of Lifepoint has always been people coming to know Jesus. As God continues to write our story, our prayer remains the same: that He would use us to demonstrate His kindness, proclaim His grace, and empower every person who walks through our doors to love God, love people, and make disciples of Jesus Christ.

Whether you’ve been here since the living room days or this Sunday will be your first time visiting—you are welcome to be part of the next chapter.
