Tell us a little bit about your family and where you’re from.
I grew up in and around the Newark area, about 30 minutes south of Mount Vernon. After attending Mount Vernon Nazarene University, I ended up moving to the area when I got a job at my alma mater right out of college.
When did you meet Jesus?
My parents, both dedicated Christ-followers, were a huge influence on my decision to follow Jesus myself when I was eight.
What is one of your favorite Bible verses?
Micah 6:8 – He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
What is your current role with Lifepoint? How long have you been on staff?
I serve as the Production Director, handling everything from live sound to videography/photography to general technology. I joined the staff in December of 2020.
How do you hope your ministry will impact people?
Good creative media is good communication, and it is my hope that we can help communicate the love and call of Jesus through visuals, sound, words, and whatever medium we’re given to work with.
What experience/education/training has helped prepare you for your current role?
I’ve worked professionally in creative technology since I was a teenager. Over that time I’ve learned from amazing creatives, gotten an English degree, and had a lot of adventures. I’ve mixed for more concerts and events than I could ever hope to remember, had the opportunity to lead some brilliant techs and creative teams, designed multimedia systems for corporate and educational institutions, built websites, wrote copy, and stayed up way too late editing photos and video.
What are some of your favorite shows, books, movies, music, etc?
Tolkien and Lewis are easily my favorite authors. Others I read tend to be the likes of Diana Wynne Jones, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and the occasional Shakespeare, Dante, or other English-nerdy classic.
As for films, I love heady thrillers in the vein of The Prestige or Shutter Island, goofy comedies like O Brother Where Art Thou, and artsy adventures like the films of Hayao Miyazaki.
Musically I’m a bit all over the place at any given time, but I always tend to drift back into the company of types like Gregory Alan Isakov and Jon Foreman.
What do you do for fun?
Hanging out with family, reading at coffee shops, running, hiking, lifting, photography, and getting tangled up in creative side projects with friends fills up most of my down time.
